Journal Funnies and Burying the Cow

 March  4, 2023

Maia just said, “You have good handwriting, Dad!”  I’m documenting that here in our journal.  It happened.

We had a crazy wind storm last night and a huge tree crashed down across part of our driveway, not only blocking our way out but also bringing down several power cables/lines.  We miraculously still had power–even though the wood from the trees by the power lines were smoking–and feel it is so that Hyrum could have his at-home MTC experience today.  They did have to turn off the power when they fixed it all, but it was a much shorter time without power than it could have been!

Speaking of Hyrum and MTC, apparently both his companions (he’s in a threesome) are about 6 foot 4 inches…fun!!  Hyrum is the midget!  Good thing he has all the confidence he does!

Penelope stacked up some cups left on the table tonight. Piper, who was on cleaning up the table, asked if I had stacked them up.  “Nope, Penelope did,” I told her.  When Piper put them in the dishwasher, Penelope, who had her head bent intently over the notebook and pen she was doodling with, said, “Dank oo!” without pausing in her drawing.

Later, Quinn started turning off all the lights around the house and turned off the light in the dining room where she was working on her paper.  Penelope said, “Dank oo!” and then moved over to the living room where there was more light for her to “work.”  She is making a bunch of similarly shaped letter and symbols on her paper in little designs on her paper.  Such a cutie!

Last night Hyrum had some time off because he puked. (Havala and Maia had also joined the puking club yesterday.)  We wanted to watch something but wanted to be considerate of mission rules, so we picked out “Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration.”  I didn’t think about the drama and sadness that the movie had and so after it was done, we had some damage control to take care of with Elijah, my sensitive hearted one.  He was super distraught.  I started to pray with him and then (I was inspired to, I think) I asked Hyrum to give him a blessing of comfort. It was one of–if not–the first blessing(s) that he has given and it was sweet, intimate and powerful to see him seek inspiration on behalf of his brother in his need.  Hyrum will indeed continue to be a blessing to everyone around him.

Piper just said someone asked her if Hyrum is 6’7”. Maia immediately replied, “Have they met Hyrum?” Hava then revealed that she was the one who had asked the question. Apparently Havala has not seen Hyrum.

Finishing up the burial of our cow, Mirabel...the turkey vultures were starting to get interested.

I have such great, hard workers in the fam!
